Can Ch Cal Vo Graceful Genevive CGC
We were deeply saddened by the loss of this lovely
girl. Geni was my first show golden from Carol Vogel
she proved to be an excellent example of this
wonderful breed.  Geni passed
4/5/95 - 8/24/09
she will be deeply missed by Marsha and her husband.

This picture was taken back in 07' at the Virginia Beach dog
show held at the Pavillion.  I needed some help with showing
dogs that day and Carol rose early to help me and she
showed Dreamer and fell in love.  So now she owns a
Dreamer son  AKA Dreamer Jr.

CAL VO's Beginning

My name is Teri Kuklica and I was blessed by meeting
Carol Vogel after my husband found her ad in Dog
World Magazine. She wouldn't sell him a dog until she
met me so one day as a surprise he drove me to her
home and I met ZJ a beautiful cream male this was 95'.
I had fallen in love with the english back in 93' when
purchasing new golden books.  Carol and I had a close
bond from the beginning, she was my mentor and stay a
true friend.  The stories about how she started are
many, so I will do the best I can,Carol got involved  in
goldens back in the early 60's starting off with a golden
from a backyard breeder. 1st golden was
Carol's
Golden Tara
63'.  She was a beautiful golden with a
clean white blaze on her chest. Then several months
later we went out in a snow storm in North Virginia,
someone had a litter of red goldens most had white
spots on them but found a male without any white
markings his name was
Carol's Rebellious Ra. aka
Rebel.  He turned out to be so sweet had a pointy nose,
skinny legs, and  we find alot to laugh about over our
start with the goldens, but hey it was a  learning
experience, Carol did obedience with Rebel he was a
very smart dog. .  Carol received a call from  Betty Ann
Hoggard  with Starfarm kennels she had met at the
training club, she wanted to use Rebel for stud, Carol
asked if she had hip clearances and Betty said well she
walks well.
An opportunity arose for  Betty Ann to go over to
England with her son for a boys choir engagment and
she went to Yeoville England and picked up Footprint of
Yeo this was Loucille Sawtell kennel.  Somehow Betty
talked her out of Yeo he was 12 wks old, he was one of
the first creams in this country.   She brought him back
to the states and showed him to his Champion.  Betty
Ann used  Yeo in her kennel for three different litters
Carol had already purchased  Beckwith Malagold
Starfarm aka Becky from Betty Hoggard.  Becky finished
her championship very quickly which made Carol so
proud, she then decided to breed to Footprint  Betty
and her had  trouble breeding the Becky, but when
Carol went to leave Betty Ann's home that was when
Footprint jumped into action before she could get
through the front door.  Betty decided to sell Footprint
to Carol Vogel for $1,500.00, she charged Carol one
hundred dollars per point. Carol husband Carl told her
she had to go and get a loan to purchase Footprint,
Carol was scared to death to have to explain her loan
purchase,  The man at the bank ensured her he
wouldn't laugh and much to her surprise he didn't he
also had just bought a dog for $2,000,00 and was very
kind. Within a couple of weeks Carols  family moved to
California in 1970 they had 5 goldens, 1 black cat and 3
turtles and 3 children and Carol was pregnant with her 4
child.  They were quiet the picture at all the motels they
stopped at.  Becky was pregnant and Annabelle was in
season with Footprint ready to roll, he completed he
duty at one of them motel stops in Las Vegas. Carol
and gang got to Cal. and everydog there was red and 4
years later Footprint had left his mark and left behind
nice blocky, nice bone, light dogs. Happy Ambassador
was one from that first litter who became a champion.
